Quick note from the department of General Practice:

We have just received an invitation for 10 UWS students to attend the WentWest Health Expo being held in Parramatta on May 15th - 16th.

This looks like an interesting program including practical teaching sessions on topics such as wound assessment, travel medicine, disaster medicine, breast examination, communicable diseases, spirometry, heart disease as well as presentations on local issues and initiatives such as "Immunisation and smoking rates in GWS" and "Australian Better Health Integration".

See WentWest Health Expo at www.wentwest.com.au  for a copy of the program and a registration form.

The MedSoc Annual General Meeting is here! Get set for a MASSIVE Monday 24 May at the Med School!

5:00pm : AGM

6:00pm: Medsoc BBQ

6:30pm: MDA National "No Holds Barred" Debating Series GRAND Final

This is your chance to learn what Medsoc spends money on, to cross-examine exec members (tell us what YOU think we should be doing!) and to approve the changes we have made to our constitution (see attached – the red text indicates changes that have been made).

Any agenda items you would like specifically addressed? Further changes you would like to see made to the constitution? Please Email Aarani (Medsoc Secretary Extraordinaire) at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , by Wednesday 12 May.

We will also be voting a few more positions – please see notice at the end of this document.

Come for the AGM, stay for the debating finals…..

6:30pm in the lecture theatres.

Stick around for the MDA National "No Holds Barred" Debating Series GRAND Final. You'll laugh, cry and wince with every bone snapping retort as this Wimbeldon of Windbags shows off the very best med kids have to offer. Will the champion teams rise to the occasion? They'd better, with a whole lecture theatre filled with you and your fellow students plump-full of glorious barbeque food and G'd up from basking in an hour of medsoc goodness, heckling is a certainty. The arguments will be convincing, the one-liners will be life life changing and the come backs will be so scorching those seated in the front row could lose an eyebrow or two. Let's face it, there's no doubts the entertainment and pure class you've come to expect will be there, the question is, will you?

Proudly brought to you by MDA National, MAP Finance and MIPS.
