4th Year - MDA Debating Series Champions! |
|
|
|
In a thrilling grand final debate, the fourth year team consisting of masterdebaters Tom Chesterman, Craig Mattern and Sean Williams out-orated the gallant second years to claim the title of this year's debating series. Congratulations to the runners-up Soondoos Raashed, Leon Richards and Mitchell Waters from second year.
The topic "That any criminal record should prevent somebody from being a doctor" allowed for many a well-considered argument and anecdotes such as the story of the unfortunate Dr Frankum who, driving to Campbelltown ED for an immunological emergency, was getting the full story over the phone from his registrar when a drunken Mitchell Waters recklessly stumbled in front of his car and died, earning B Frank a manslaughter charge. Other crimes did not go unpunished such as Craig's former ponytail and the second years' somewhat liberal definition of the debate, which saw them incarcerated in meters of crime-scene left over from AMSA Convention.
Congratulations to all teams who debated in the third annual UWSMS debating competition which boasted a record number of teams, debates and the largest ever crowds. Well done to AMSA Rep Kyle Sheldrick on putting together an hilarious, engaging and outrageous competition that involved all the year groups - no mean feat. Also special thanks to all our sponsors MDA National, Map Funds and MIPS
Have your turn to get amongst it next year! |

The medsoc is conducting a survey on your (medical students) future plans
The survey is to help us plan better to help you achieve your goals, and to better understand the demographics of UWS Medical Students.
Everything is anonymous - your entry will be given a number, not a name!
The survey is really short, only 5 questions and everything is multiple choice.
Please complete it - it will really help us.
